Third-Grade Logic
I scored 190+ on Hoeflin’s high-range IQ test and 160+ on the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale. Despite this, I was accused of being unable to understand what a third-grader could, simply because I questioned and rejected arguments grounded in logical fallacies. When those arguments fell apart, the focus shifted to demands for blind obedience, disregarding the importance of education, qualifications, experience, and independent thought in favor of unquestioning compliance. Such behavior is disrespectful, especially from those who do not hold themselves to high standards of reasoning and critical thinking. In response, I chose to walk away and continue deepening my education, broadening my experience, and strengthening my capacity for critical, independent thought.
